The village of Kingswear sits just to the East of Dartmouth, with the River Dart channelling between these two idyllic villages. With its vantage point across the Dart and views out to the English Channel, Kingswear is a charming village full of character and well worth a visit or a stay to take full advantage of the beautiful South Devon countryside.

Thiptara itself is a stunning villa-style property that was a collective effort to realise.  The client first visited Caradon Stone in early 2021 to tour our quarries and consider a number of natural stone options. From a range of choices, our Caradon Cropped granite walling was eventually selected, due to its fantastic colouration and strong match for Dartmoor granite.

Caradon Stone worked with Goulden and Sons to supply various test panels and proposals. The final specification called for the stone to have thin, recessed joints, and we were able to design a solution that made use of small offcuts as infill stones, reducing the amount of waste involved in producing the finished effect.

With the client so pleased with the walling stone, we were also asked to produce matching Cornish granite cills, staddle stones, cappings and coping stones. All of these were produced by our wonderfully talented stonemasonry team, and the finished project is all the more stunning for it.

The property features a huge facade of continuous granite walling, replete with our granite cills and cappings. In addition, the stepped garden's boundaries are marked out by further granite walls made from our cropped granite.
