Sourced directly from Cornwall, this high-quality slate combines durability with a rugged, rustic appearance, making it perfect for both practical and decorative outdoor projects.

The smaller grade of Cornish hedging stone, with bed depths ranging from 150mm to 450mm, is particularly suited to intricate garden designs and dry stone walls, offering versatility for homeowners, landscapers, and builders alike. Known as garden hedging stone, this smaller grade is available both bagged and loose, providing flexible options depending on the scale and complexity of your project.

For projects requiring a more premium appearance, where a natural slate face is desirable, we recommend our medium walling stone. The larger hedging stone, with bed depths up to 600mm, is better suited to agricultural or large-scale retaining walls, providing strength and stability for more substantial constructions. Due to its size, the larger hedging stone is only sold loose, rather than in dumpy bags.

Priced per tonne, Cornish slate hedging stone is a practical and versatile choice for enhancing outdoor spaces. On average, one tonne of this material will cover approximately 2m², depending on wall thickness and stone placement. While the stones are selected for nominal bed depths, they are not all chosen for having fully natural faces, contributing to the authentic, rustic aesthetic that is characteristic of Cornish slate.
